FebruaryHappy February! As you read through this month's Flipped Agenda, I think you will find a theme: Celebration. We have so much to celebrate! From celebrating staff members for accomplishments to celebrating teams for collaboration and even celebrating school behavior data...we have a lot to be proud of...we truly are the BEST IN THE WEST! Please take the time to read through these celebrations and reflect on your own contributions to each of these accomplishments. Everyone has contributed. Everyone.
As we look toward the final 4 months of the 2018-2019 school year, please keep in mind that the best is yet to come. We will continue to grow as a collaborative learning community. We will continue to build meaningful relationships with our students and community. We will continue to work to be consistent as an educator, team, and school, removing the concept of "educational lottery" from our amazing school. Lastly, Thank You. Thank you for your dedication to our school, our students, and our community. As I said, each of you have contributed to our successes thus far this school year...I can't wait to see what all we get to celebrate in May. |
Congratulations, Margaret grayburn!
As you all know on Jan 25th, our Chorus and Recorder Ensemble performed at the Georgia Music Educators Association Conference in Athens, GA! This was an incredible honor and something that should be recognized as HUGE! I am so excited for our students, but especially PROUD of "the legendary" (this is how she was introduced that evening) Margaret Grayburn for ALL of her hard work preparing our students for this spotlight event. Our students have been given a lot of opportunity to perform at various events and locations, such as Atlantic Station, but being asked to perform for an audience, such as this one, is amazing! ❤️
I also want to give a special shout-out to Laurie Prescott, Becky Grove, and Roxanne Spinks for their support of our awesome music program at CHES!

Confidentiality
A quick friendly reminder about confidentiality: The human in us wants to ask questions about specific students, behaviors observed, or rumors going around relating to students that we do not directly serve. However, please keep in mind that, as educators, our professional ethics standards and evaluation standards speak directly to respecting and maintaining confidentiality. Sometimes we get super comfortable with our colleagues and let curiosity and human nature take over. So, unless you are collaborating with teammates on strategies to support students or planning instruction, please do not let human nature take over and ask confidential questions of others. Please also be especially mindful of your locations when having such professionally related conversations…for example, these collaborations should not take place in the mailroom, lunchroom, hallways, etc.
CCC's Plan and Celebrations
During the January CHAT meeting, we asked CHAT members to share some "Celebrations" that they have been part of or experienced since our implementation of CCC's!
Prioritizing CHES Math Standards
Behavior Data
This year we have worked VERY hard to be more consistent with many things, behavior management being one of them. Thank you, ALL, for being more consistent with your practices. We firmly believe that the implementation of CHAMP Stars, the Voyage program, & consistency with the CHES Infraction form has contributed to these improvements:
8.1.2017-1.25.2018: 66 Actions due to behavior were taken 8.1.2018-1.25.2019: 35 Actions due to behavior were taken *Actions taken = discipline action imposed by administrator (Suspension, Time Out, In School Isolation, etc.) |
Collaboration beyond the classroom
When Brandy McDonald's van got stuck in the mud at the 1st grade team's Christmas gathering, the team collaborated, made a plan, and saved the day....AS A TEAM!
